A 6-year-old boy whose ears were allegedly cut off by his uncle's wife in Hubei province will have an artificial ear surgically attached, his father said on Tuesday.

The right ear of the boy, identified by the police as Fanfan, was reattached at a hospital in Xiangyang the day it was cut off, allegedly by his uncle's wife, 35-year-old Zhang Qihui, on Jan 28. An artificial ear will be attached on the left side, said Wang Zhiyong, the boy's father.

Fanfan has been transferred to Wuhan General Hospital of the Guangzhou Military Area Command in the provincial capital of Wuhan for the surgery.
