Keeping tabs on safety
After the Fukushima nuclear accident, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Co instigated 17 specific action plans to improve the safety features of its reactor units. So far, it has fulfilled more than half of them.
The company has been closely following research from home and abroad on the Japanese accident and safety improvement measures, and has made safety evaluations and improvements at its power stations. For example, it has acquired mobile diesel generators and diesel-powered water supply pumps to deal with emergencies such as a station blackout.
It has strengthened communications with meteorological, oceanic and earthquake administrations, and improved disaster prevention plans and relevant management procedures. The corporation also conducted research into its response to multiple reactors entering a critical state simultaneously and consolidated its plan for equipping and coordinating emergency personnel and supplies.
