Father and sons

By Hu Yongqi | China Daily | Updated: 2012-12-04 07:59

Zhu Zhansong was delighted to be given a cellphone and a computer by Zhao Yong, a soldier who recently left Dulongjiang Frontier Police Station after four years' service.

The 61-year-old Chongqing native, who lives across the street from the police station, has formed a strong bond with the soldiers. He regards many of them as "sons", because of the help he's received.

In 1989, Zhu arrived in Dulongjiang as a migrant worker, running a small team of men working on the construction of a hydropower station. At the time, the locals didn't speak Mandarin,so even bargaining for food was hard work.
