Call for expansion of bribery blacklist

By Cao Yin | China Daily | Updated: 2012-09-05 07:55

Experts have called for the expansion of China's so-called bribery blacklist, which bars people convicted of offering bribes from working in their field.

Yi Shenghua, a lawyer specializing in bribery cases at Yingke Law Firm in Beijing, said the list acts as a deterrent to people considering offering bribes.

"The list is a kind of credit system," he said. "If an engineer bribes someone to obtain a project and is placed on the list, he or she will no longer be permitted to work in the field."
