Gade's late-night exit could bring tie-breaks

The controversial end to Peter Gade's record-breaking years at the All-England Open will bring changes to the world's oldest tournament next year, possibly including tie-breaks.

So say leading figures within the Badminton World Federation and Badminton England, after the former world No 1 from Denmark had made outspoken criticisms of his disastrous 2.30 am finish on Thursday.

It brought a shock first-round loss to England's Rajiv Ouseph for the 35-year-old Gade, the longest-lasting top level player the professional game has seen, who said: "Why are we not in the same league as tennis or golf? Well this is why.
