Billions of yuan spent on reducing poverty
China has mobilized all social sectors to participate in its development-oriented poverty-reduction project, according to a white paper released by the State Council Information Office.
From 2002 to 2010, some 272 organizations offered 9.09 billion yuan ($1.43 billion) in direct aid to poverty-stricken counties nationwide, the white paper reported. Meanwhile, 33.91 billion yuan of support funds were collected during the period.
