Merry warmth of mulled wines

China Daily | Updated: 2010-12-19 08:50

Beijing is freezing cold. It's the coldest winter in 10 years, some say, although there has not been a single flake of snow. In such dry, low temperatures, the revelry at Christmas and the New Year will definitely benefit from some liquid warmth, and nothing heats up the spirits like a mug of spicy red mulled wine.

Mulled wine has long been a Yuletide tradition.

It's very likely European in origin, although it is now popular during Thanksgiving, which is a uniquely American celebration.
