Court research highlights rising divorce cases

Chongwen district court said in a report yesterday that divorces are on the rise, echoing a local government statement last year that domestic violence was too.

The statistics come from a report on divorce cases handled by the court between 2008 and 2009. It said divorces in the district had increased from 359 in 2008 to 485 last year.

Twenty-nine of the divorce cases in 2009 were related to family violence.
