Boycotting goods helps nobody

Comment on "If one day West were to boycott Chinese goods?" (China Daily website, Dec 10)

China's economy relies heavily on export. Western companies have greater reach beyond their own market and China serves as a manufacturer for them. If there were a boycott of Chinese products, these companies would also be hurt. But the effects on China would be devastating, with more factories going bankrupt and more people unemployed.
