Dalai meeting set for July

China Daily | Updated: 2008-06-30 07:19

Some officials of central government departments will meet the personal representatives of the Dalai Lama early next month on his request, a government spokesman said yesterday.

The central authorities have maintained a constant and clear policy toward the Dalai Lama, he said. "Our door is always open for dialogue with the Dalai Lama," he said, "(We) hope the Dalai Lama would treasure this opportunity and respond positively to the requirements of the central authorities."

On May 4, central government department officials held a meeting with the Dalai Lama's representatives on his request, the first such meeting after the March 14 riots in Lhasa.
