China Daily | Updated: 2008-06-14 07:38

TAIYUAN: A colliery blast in North China's Shanxi province on Friday has left 43 miners trapped, local authorities said.

The explosion occurred at about 11 am at the Anxin coal mine in the city of Xiaoyi. Fifty-eight miners were working underground at the time, but 15 managed to escape, officials said.

The mine passed a safety check earlier this year.
