Strict traffic measures

Authorities in Beijing will reduce the number of vehicles on its streets during the Olympics by half, a traffic official said yesterday.

By the time of the Games, the capital will have more than 3.3 million cars, which will put further pressure on its already overloaded traffic system, the official told the ongoing session of the Beijing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
