Safer bus stations

China Daily | Updated: 2007-11-10 07:11

To protect the safety of passengers, the bus system should get more financial support and stations should be made safer, says a signed article in the Qilu Evening Post. The following is an excerpt.

A 10-year-old boy was killed while waiting for a bus after school at a bus station in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, according to a recent news report. The bus rolled over him after he was pushed under it by crowding passengers.

One witness said the bus didn't stop at the station because there were too many people waiting there. It continued rolling forward, but many people ran alongside it hoping to jump on board. The boy was dragged along until he fell under the bus.
