VIP medical malfeasance

China Daily | Updated: 2007-09-27 07:25

Public hospitals should not be providing VIP services to a select few clients at the expense of the public interest, says an article in Qilu Evening News. The following is an excerpt:

It has been reported that China Unicom's Heilongjiang branch and another local telecommunications technology firm signed an agreement with the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University to set up a VIP for patients who happen to work for Unicom. This project should raise suspicion.

Many people think such VIP services are a drain on public health resources and violate the interests of common patients.
