Boss goes soft for sick pets

A design company in Chongqing Municipality has adopted a new regulation that allows workers to have a day off when their pets get ill.

The manager, surnamed Tang, said he came up with the idea after a female worker last year applied for a one-day holiday to take her dog to the vet, but was rejected by the company on the grounds that she had too much work to do. The dog later died and the worker blamed the company and quit her job. Tang said he regretted losing the staff member, and softened his attitudes to sick pets.
