YINCHUAN: A district government in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has said complaints against corrupt village officials have fallen 50 percent since supervisors were introduced in November to monitor the work of village heads.
The Ningxia commission for discipline inspection set up the scheme following reports from some local Party disciplinary committees that more than 70 percent of complaints and accusations they received were against village officials.
Supervisors have since been appointed in 1,411 villages, 54 percent of the region's total, to oversee budget allocations.
