Biz Scene: Biz Moves

Phil Murtaugh, a US auto industry veteran in China, has left SAIC Motor, China's biggest carmaker, to join US auto giant Chrysler LLC as chief executive of its Asian operations, the companies said last Friday.

Murtaugh will be responsible for Chrysler's operations throughout the region, including China and India, Chrysler said in a statement, describing Asia as "critical" for its growth.

Murtaugh resigned from the post of executive vice-president of SAIC Motor, previously known as Shanghai Automotive Co, where he had worked since June 2006.
