He devoted 60 years of his life to China, first to the revolution and then to the construction of New China. He shared with the Chinese people the sufferings and happiness along the road, and forever remained a fighter, humanitarian and goodwill ambassador between China and New Zealand.

Rewi Alley (1897-1987) came from New Zealand to China in 1927, and played out many roles: soldier, farmer, traveler, fire and factory inspector, radio technician and operator, writer and poet.

This year is his 110th birth and 20th death anniversary, which more than 300 people gathered in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday to observe.
