5. Liyuan Garden. Lying on the northern shore of Lake Lihu, it is named after Minister Fan Li of China's "Spring and Autumn" Period, dating back some 2,400 years. The minister is believed to have enjoyed boating on the lake with the beautiful Xi Shi. Liyuan Garden today is famous for its Jiangnan-styled scenes, whose beauty is revealed by the unique Chinese gardening art enriched with natural phenomena like shimmering moonlight, drifting clouds, fine rains, dreamlike mists, breeze from reeds and bubbles made by feeding fish, all of which people associate with Jiangnan.
