Now that the 2008 Olympic Games is barely a year away, the public and media should begin to discuss what Beijing can present to the world.
To begin with there is an array of things we can show: The Games' opening and closing ceremonies laden with rich Chinese cultural elements, the unique national stadium, the 15 million friendly and polite Beijing citizens, the beautiful new terminal of the Capital International Airport. The list goes on.
But most importantly, in the opinion of this author, our environmental protection efforts should be on display to the world at large. And what we should avoid is "extravaganza".
