Boy, 5, charms Wuhan with love for Mom, Dad

A 5-year-old boy's drawing has led to his family being chosen as Wuhan's model family in Hubei province.

The picture shows a mother bird lying in a nest while a litter bird holds a worm in its mouth to feed its mother. The boy, Liu Ruijia, said: " I love my parents. I would like to be that bird!"

Last October, Liu's parents were injured in a traffic accident. The boy, then just four, served them their food and water. He even staged small dance-and-drama acts to keep his parents entertained.

Student to walk 300 km to university to toughen up

A newly-enrolled student of Wuhan University plans to walk all the way from his hometown Suizhou to his school - a distance of 300 kilometers.

As against a two-hour bus ride, Nie Wendi will spend 12 days and thousands of yuan to cover this distance, but says it is worth it as it will strengthen both his physical health and mental endurance.

Nie plans to walk 25 to 30 kilometers every day and reach the university on September 7.
