Show of paper-cuts opens at Guangzhou museum
The first display of the paper-cuts of Guangdong Province opened on Sunday at the Haizhu District Museum of Guangzhou.
Housed in a two-storey building, covering 200 square meters, the collection has 60 paper-cut works by famous artist Han Yan, who has won many awards at international and domestic art shows. (www.xinhuanet.com)
First lot of trained social workers get to work
Guangdong Province's first group of 37 social workers began working in Shenzhen on Monday. A majority of them are fresh university graduates, of whom 27 have majored in social work.
Four of them have been hired by a local charity organization to man their hotline while the rest have been employed by 11 government agencies to provide free services to residents. According to the Shenzhen Civil Affairs Bureau, the number of social workers will be increased to 5,000 by 2010.

Hotline to reach out to troubled residents
A new hotline to provide free psychological counseling opened in Shenzhen on Monday. Residents can dial 33003331 to reach experienced psychologists from 10am to 10pm every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
The sponsor, Shenzhen YGYZ Psychological Consultant Co, has promised that it will keep all conversations confidential.
