Too many toll roads

The high percentage of toll roads in China is an unhealthy phenomenon, says an article in Workers' Daily. The following is an excerpt:

According to China Economic Times, about 70 percent of the world's total toll roads are in China. The Ministry of Communications stipulates that there should be one tollgate for every 40 kilometers of high way, but some local governments make it 20 kilometers or less. At the same time, a series of corruption problems have derived from the toll roads.

It is a shame that toll roads, which should help public welfare, have become a tool for some local governments and interest groups to gain fat profits.
