Wen congratulates ASEAN

Premier Wen Jiabao yesterday sent a congratulatory letter to Singapore, the current chair of ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations), to mark the 40th anniversary of the organization's founding.

In a letter to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Premier Wen said in the past 40 years, ASEAN had made concerted efforts to promote economic, social and cultural development among its member states, protect regional peace and stability and push for regional cooperation - and made big strides in all these fields.
