Worms killed goldfish, claims Changsha man

A Changsha resident, Liu Dongsheng, recently found that two of his golden fish had succumbed to the worms he fed them with.

Liu, who has 45 goldfish at home, found two of them dead on Monday morning. He also found the worms were still on the dead fish, which seemed to have been eaten into.

Liu said he had bought the worms from a local bazaar early this week.

Woman, 93, spurned by by children on fast

A 93-year-old woman has gone on a fast to protest her children's refusal to look after her in Haikou, Hainan.

Zhang Xiulan, whose husband died a decade ago, said she wanted to let others know of her unworthy children who had refused to pay her daily living expenses from this year.

Zhang has two sons and two daughters, who have been putting the blame on one another for not giving Zhang any money this year.

The local neighborhood committee has contacted Zhang's children who live separate from their old mother many times, but none has stepped forward to care for Zhang.

Local police are investigating and did not rule out the possibility of detaining Zhang's children for neglecting their filial responsibilities. Negotiations are still going on.

Woman on phone topples off edge of terrace

A Hong Kong woman was so engrossed on her cellphone, that she fell off the edge of a terrace and suffered head injuries. She is now in stable condition.

This happened on Sunday when the woman, 44, visited the grave of a relative with her family.

The grave was located on a hill in Lok Ma Chau of Hong Kong and the woman was pacing the terrace around it, as she talked on the cellphone.

Her husband and two children were performing the grave-sweeping rituals when she fell backwards, nearly 2 meters to the ground.

Worker faints at sight of blood on friend's hand

A building maintenance worker high up on a platform fainted - not from the height - but from the sight of a little blood from his co-worker's hand injury.

The pair were cleaning the walls of an office building in Central, Hong Kong, on Sunday when one of them suffered a minor injury on the hand.

His co-worker Lai instantly turned pale and then fainted.

His friend then quickly lowered the platform to the ground and Lai regained consciousness by the time the paramedics arrived.

Group of five nick bracelet from jewelry shop

A group of five men and women pocketed a pair of bracelets from a Macao jewelry shop, as they fussed with their selections.

The theft was not discovered until an inventory check was done two days later.

The shop assistants said the five came on April 5, saying they wanted some bracelets for a wedding.

They kept trying on many different pairs and eventually bought two.

The shop assistants, kept busy by their demands and enquiries, did not realize that they had stolen a pair valued at around 5,000 patacas ($641), until two days later.
