Time finally runs out for nail house, as compensation deal agreed

By Huang Zhiling | China Daily | Updated: 2007-04-04 06:38

The "coolest nail house" in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality is no more.

After years of on-and-off negotiations over compensation, the property was finally demolished on Monday evening, just hours after its owners, Yang Wu and Wu Ping, reached an agreement with the site's developers, the Jiulongpo District Court in Chongqing said at a press conference yesterday morning.

According to Yang Guang, deputy chief of the court's law-enforcement section, the couple accepted the offer of a new property, of an equivalent size to their former home, in the Shapingba District of downtown Chongqing as compensation.
