Perks should not be biased
We should have some principles while seeking to attract back to China students studying abroad, says a signed article in Beijing News. An excerpt follows:
The central government recently issued a document offering talented Chinese students studying abroad a range of sweet deals to lure them back home after their studies. Their spouses can get priority in employment and even their children face the prospect of getting special benefits when enrolling in Chinese universities.
Statistics show that by the end of 2006, there were a total of 1.07 million Chinese students who went abroad to study and about 275,000 returned after graduation. In this period of rapid economic growth as a developing country, it would be best if the return rate could be about two-thirds. Thus it is a pressing issue that students do not come back after their overseas studies.
