Beijing is to set up an emergency management system for the transportation sector to help cope with potential problems before the 2008 Olympic Games, sources with the Beijing municipal committee of communications said.

The system will consist of 7,200 electronic cameras to provide real-time surveillance of all important roads, streets and bus and subway stations in Beijing by the end of this year.
