Biz people: NYSE hires new president

NYSE Group Inc, owner of the world's largest stock exchange, hired Duncan Niederauer of Goldman Sachs Group Inc as president and co-chief operating officer and promoted Gerald Putnam to vice-chairman.

Niederauer, a Goldman managing director, will begin on April 9 and oversee US cash equities operations, NYSE said in a statement.

President and Co-Chief Operating Officer Catherine Kinney will oversee NYSE Group's global listings business, NYSE said.
