Comment on Liu Shinan's column "Send spoiled children to do manual work" (China Daily, February 7)

It is true that in China most of the children are spoiled to different extents and making children and teenagers more exposed to the adult world can help them understand "what hardship is". Yet although this action is absolutely correct and should be encouraged, I doubt if the method is as effective as we expect it to be.
