Taliban not strong but dangerous: general

By Su Qiang | China Daily | Updated: 2007-02-28 07:13

Despite more Taliban attacks expected as spring arrives in Afghanistan, US-led coalition forces remain optimistic that the terrorists will be vanquished.

"We do expect more violence, especially in southern and eastern Afghanistan, but we are also confident that we have sufficient capability to meet those threats," said Karl Eikenberry, commanding general of the Combined Forces Command in Afghanistan.

Eikenberry, who has just concluded a 21-month tour and arrived at Beijing for an informal visit, said the changing weather is not the only factor behind another possible Taliban killing spree.
