Parliament votes in new PM

Kyrgyzstan's parliament voted to confirm a long-serving aide of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev as prime minister yesterday, ending a deadlock that had held up legislation including this year's state budget.

Parliament voted 57-4 to confirm Acting Agriculture Minister Azim Isabekov, 45, as the Central Asian state's premier. Former Prime Minister Felix Kulov resigned in December during a struggle over a new constitution.
