STAR TV CEO resigns

After masterminding STAR TV's expansion on the Chinese mainland for media giant News Corp, CEO Michelle Guthrie has resigned effective March 1.

Paul Aiello, president of STAR, will succeed Guthrie as the top executive.

Aiello, 42, joined STAR in June 2006 after a distinguished career at investment house Morgan Stanley, where he was in charge of its Telecom, Media and Technology Group for the Asia-Pacific region. He also worked for Beijing Jeep Co, the first automobile joint venture in China.<FONT COLOR=#0080FF>Biz scene:</FONT> BIZ MOVES

Two months ago, STAR TV appointed Jack Gao, former head of Microsoft and Autodesk China, as CEO of STAR TV China.

New chamber deputy

Zhang Yue, former president of Zhejiang's Chamber of Commerce for the Petroleum Industry, has been elected deputy president of the China Chamber of Commerce for the Petroleum Industry.

He fills a spot left vacant when the first president of the privately run organization, Gong Jialong, was detained due to suspected economic crimes.
