Fighting terrorism
China Daily | Updated: 2007-01-10 06:31
I cannot agree more with the concept of "people's war" illustrated by Senior Colonel Wang Guanghai of China's Armed Police when he referred to the anti-terrorism plan for the 2008 Olympic Game in Beijing (China Daily, January 5, 2007).
The war against terrorism is no longer a traditional one as in the history of warfare. All the peace-loving people should be engaged in the war against terrorism as any one and any place could be the potential target of the terrorists. Some terrorists may argue that what they do is a "just cause" perceived by themselves. But any cause described as "just" should never be done at the cost of peace or lives of the innocent.
