Up, up and away

China Daily | Updated: 2007-01-10 06:30

Chinese legend says that a young lady named Chang'e lives alone on the moon with a rabbit as her companion.

She won't be lonely any more because several countries have announced their programs shooting for the moon or moon exploration.

China will launch its first lunar orbiter Chang'e I this year. It will be followed by the summer send-off of a mega-powerful mooncraft from Japan. Also included are India and the United States, which have announced their lunar missions.
