Two the more rich selections were the fois gras and the forest mushrooms. The fois gras, a generous slice of goose liver pate served with an apple compote and date sauce was very well done. I personally love fois gras so I never pass up a chance to have it, sometimes that back fires here in China, but Mare's offering was very done.

The richness of the fois gras paired with the slightly tart apple was a nice combination. The forest mushrooms with an olive oil, garlic and lemon was equally rich but like the fois gras not too heavy and a very nice offering.

MARE

For those who like crispy fried things, and you know who you are-the calamari rings and the homemade croquettes were a great addition to the fancy tapas platters. The calamari was tender and not overly salty as is often the case.

Mare take the time to leech out the overly saltiness of the squid before cooking them giving a traditionally heavy dish a much lighter presentation.

The croquettes-little battered pieces of chicken, tuna and monk fish served with a spicy aioli sauce were equally as light and flavorful as the calamari.
