MARE
By Bobby Brill (bestfoodinchina.net)
Updated: 2008-08-07 15:09 In the heart of Beijing's Central Business District the little oasis of Mare hosts new Spanish cuisine and 30 sumptuous selections of tapas and perhaps the best business lunch (68-88RMB) offering around. A bright open floor plan, a respectable wine selection and wonderful and full bodied smells of spices, seafood and grilled treats await the dinner. Located in the E-Tower near Kerry Center, right across from the funky new CCTV building and even more convenient being a few moments away from the Jintaixizhao stop off of the newly opened Line 10; Mare's new location sets it apart from the hustle and bustle of its sister location in Sanlitun. Spanish food is a very popular Western style in Beijing and for good reason. A focus on fresh seafood, spicy and tart flavors, rich earthy vegetables and grilled meats fit almost everyone's palate both Chinese and Western. The owners have invested in bringing over a Spanish chef to develop the dishes with local and traditional ingredients and to train the staff in the subtleties of the preparation and menu. A menu available in Chinese, English and Spanish begins to show you how important the customer is to this restaurant. Even special requests will be accommodated if possible letting you now that you are welcome and that this is your home. |
