Cartoon commentary: Xi's HK visit

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, also president of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, arrived in Hong Kong on June 29 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, attend the inauguration ceremony of the fifth-term government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and inspect the SAR.

This is a grand occasion in the history of development of HKSAR with great significance and comes highly anticipated.

Over the past 20 years, the practice of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong has achieved great success, which has proven the "one country, two systems" policy can solve problems in Hong Kong that were left over from history, and has also set up institutional arrangements to maintain long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong after its return to the mainland.

Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the Central Committee, with Xi as the core, has paid great attention to the development of Hong Kong and the lives of Hong Kong people. Guided by "one country, two systems" policy from a strategic perspective and at an overall height by the CPC Central Committee, Hong Kong has made many new breakthroughs, new progress and new achievements.

"One country, two systems" stands as an unshakable cornerstone. To adhere to promoting development of the cause of "one country, two systems" is in line with the fundamental interests of China and long-term interests of Hong Kong.

It is the vivid expression of the "system confidence" in Hong Kong and a living example to promote the rule of law.
