A deputy of the National People's Congress said some of those seriously injured in the deadly attack early this month in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province, have recovered and the local government is taking care of the victim's families and shouldering responsibilities in the aftermath.

Li Wenrong, the mayor of Kunming, said on Sunday that 31 of the 75 people severely injured and hospitalized following the attack on March 1 at Kunming Railway Station have returned home, and the government covered all fees.

The unexpected assault left 29 dead and 143 injured. The injured were rushed to 12 hospitals in Kunming, and 36 medical experts from Beijing and Shanghai came to assist with emergency treatment. "The accident caused huge trauma for everyone who experienced and still remembers it, and the Kunming government invited top psychologists to console the injured and the victims' families," said the mayor, who missed four days of the NPC meeting while handling the aftermath.

Guo Anfei contributed to the story.
