APEC summit gives China home advantage

China will fulfill its role as a major responsible country by hosting two major international meetings, said Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday.

Beijing will host the 2014 APEC Economic Leaders' Meetings, while Shanghai will host the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia. Both will put China in the spotlight and give the country a bigger say in regional cooperation and global issues.

China will work on tighter economic integration within Asia Pacific and invigorate the region's economy, said Wang.

China will also expect a breakthrough over free trade agreement discussions across the region.

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia deals with regional security. China expects joint efforts to shape new notion of security in Asia and promote peace, stability and cooperation.

China urges peaceful rebuilding of Afghanistan

China is the biggest neighbor of Afghanistan, and the peace and stability of the country are closely related to the development of China, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.
