Guangdong launches drive to promote e-commerce

The 3rd "Guangzhou e-commerce companies' tour of national web journalists" organized by the commerce department of Guangdong province and southcn.com was launched on Monday in Guangzhou city, South China's Guangdong province.

As part of a series of "shopping online for Guangzhou manufacture products", this five-day drive will mainly focus on the development of e-commerce companies in Guangdong province, thereby expanding these e-commerce firms' popularity among the public.

Guangdong is a strong e-commerce province. The transaction via e-commerce reached 1.73 trillion yuan in the first three quarters of this year, the volume of shopping online was 338.65 billion yuan, said Cai Yong, vice-director of the commence department in Guangdong province.

As a new measure, the "grab red envelope" has joined this year's shopping online promotion campaign. During the online promotion, many e-commerce firms offered huge red envelopes worth billion yuan to stimulate customers' spending demand; "grab red envelope" campaign ran on Wechat platform, the "shopping online for Guangzhou manufacture products" enhanced its image among the public, Cai Yong added.

The "shopping online for Guangzhou manufacture products" was first organized by the Guangdong provincial government in 2012. It aims to stabilize Guangdong's economic growth, encourage traditional retail company restructure, and support small-and medium-size firm's development, as well as provide plenty of job opportunities in Guangdong.

This year's online promotion for Guangzhou manufacturing products will continue to Dec 31, with some new promotion measures expected during the last days.
