CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, made a successful end of its 2015 Global Business Challenge East China regional final in Shanghai on Monday with the team from Zhejiang University coming on top after beating off five teams.

The five candidates chosen from more than 400 teams from universities in East China region after a three-month competition are Fudan University, Jiangxi Finance and Economics University, Shanghai Lixin University, Shandong University and Zhejiang Finance and Economic University.

The event, which was co-sponsored by CIMA and the Finance and Accounting School of Shanghai Lixin University, is part of CIMA's strategy to help business students at major Chinese universities to fast-track ambitions to be business leaders of the future, said Zhao Meihang, CIMA China Chief Representative.

CIMA, the world's leading body of management accountants, has been promoting management accounting in the Chinese market for a decade and has been working closely both with leading companies and universities in China.

CIMA Global Business Challenge is a truly global competition for universities from 25 countries and regions, including the UK, Australia, Bangladesh, China, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, the Middle East and South Africa, said Zhao.

"Competitors will battle it out to become the 'Global Champion' by presenting a business case to an audience of CIMA delegates and a judging panel of renowned business experts," Zhao said.

The champion team in the East China regional final will compete against another four regional champions at the China Country Final in May 2015, she said.

"To organize CIMA GBC, we want to give clear and right guidance to the young generation and provide them an open platform for them to shine," Zhao said, adding businesses from around the world can select right talents.
