Macao's forex reserves increase slightly in April

MACAO - Macao Special Administrative Region's foreign exchange reserves in April saw a slight growth of 0.3 percent compared to the revised value of 136.9 billion patacas ($17.14 billion) in March, according to the figures released by Monetary Authority of China's Macao on Friday.

The reserves reached 137.3 billion patacas ($17.2 billion) at the end of April 2015, the authority said Friday.

Macao's foreign exchange reserves at the end of April 2015 represented 12 times the currency in circulation at the end of last month.

The trade-weighted effective exchange rate index for the pataca, a gauge of the domestic currency's exchange rates against the currencies of Macao's major trading partners increased 7.74 points year-on-year to 104.85 in April 2015.
