Jaguar Land Rover, the first British automotive manufacturer to exhibit at the China International Import Expo, marks its ninth consecutive year at the expo, affirming its confidence in the Chinese market, as well as its continued investment and deepening engagement in China.
As the ninth CIIE, which opened in Shanghai on Nov 5, the United Kingdom's largest automotive manufacturer JLR is presenting seven distinctive vehicles, a Range Rover SV Bespoke experience and its corporate social responsibility initiatives in the Automobile and Smart Mobility exhibition zone in Hall 7.2.
Tim Howard, CEO of JLR China, said that "CIIE brings us closer to Chinese clients and partners, giving us firsthand insight into the dynamism and openness of the market. Looking ahead, we will continue to broaden our product portfolio, create distinctive brand experiences and enhance support throughout the client journey, translating the insights gained at CIIE into sustainable performance and long-term value."
Kate Harrisson, His Majesty's trade commissioner for the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, visited the JLR booth. She said "JLR is a strong example of a British company investing in China and working pragmatically with Chinese partners. Its participation in CIIE for nine consecutive years reflects its sustained commitment to the market, while showcasing British strengths in engineering, innovation and responsible business."
"There is significant scope for closer UK-China collaboration in advanced manufacturing, the green transition and trade in services," she said, adding that "We look forward to JLR continuing to act as a bridge and helping to foster practical, mutually beneficial partnerships between British and Chinese businesses."
On the opening day, Li Guoqing, deputy director-general of the China International Import Expo Bureau, presented JLR with a commemorative award recognizing its participation in all nine editions of CIIE.
"CIIE is a key platform for China to pursue high-standard opening-up and promote global cooperation, and has always been committed to creating an open platform for international cooperation. We look forward to JLR continuing to use CIIE as a platform to share in China's development opportunities and create long-term value," Li said.
At this year's CIIE, JLR is presenting seven vehicles from the Range Rover and Defender brands. Among the exhibits is a classic Land Rover Series I, built in 1955, which completed the first overland crossing of Eurasia. It represents an early expression of the reliability, durability and spirit of exploration that continue to define Defender today.
