Visitors to the China International Import Expo in Shanghai can experience what it is like to drive a CR450 high-speed train, whose prototype has reached a speed of 453 kilometers per hour during testing, thanks to a simulator unveiled on Thursday.
Presented by China State Railway Group, the national railway operator, the immersive simulator recreates the layout, sights and sounds of the CR450 driver's cab. It allows visitors to experience operating the train under different geographical and weather conditions, the company said.
CR450 prototypes have completed full-train type testing and operational trials, the company said. In addition to a single-train test at 453 km/h, two trains reached a combined speed of 896 km/h in a passing test.
The exhibition also features a platform demonstrating how intelligent technologies are applied throughout a high-speed train's life cycle, from design and manufacturing to testing, operation and maintenance.
China State Railway Group said it would continue developing the CR450 and applying artificial intelligence to the railway sector, with the aim of bringing the next-generation trains into commercial service as soon as possible.
