At the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, Evan Yang, CEO of OceanBase, shared his perspective on open source and openness.
In Evan Yang's view, open source is more than just making code visible or freely available. It also creates great opportunities for foundational software, including databases, to work together and develop stronger connections.
These connections can support collaborative ecosystems and contribute to the formation of complete software stacks.
He also sees wider participation as an important part of the process. By bringing more engineers into co-building, open source and openness can help advance technological progress and broaden access to technology, he said.
