As the Japanese government reportedly plans to adopt the revised version of its three key security documents in December, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun warned that Japan's "remilitarization" is proceeding at a reckless speed, seriously threatening the region's peace and stability and challenging the postwar global order.
"The international community must remain highly vigilant and work together to curb this," he said at a daily news conference in Beijing on Thursday.
Guo noted that Japan has rushed to revise the three security documents, significantly increased military spending, and developed offensive capabilities, clearly revealing its ambition to accelerate "remilitarization".
China has noted that there are also concerns within Japan itself that the concept of a "peace-loving nation" is being eroded and that its economy and people's livelihoods are being seriously affected, he said.
"Historically, Japanese militarism committed atrocious crimes, inflicting grave suffering on the people of the Asia-Pacific and the world. The lessons of history are still clear and must not be neglected," Guo said.
