The three-day seventh Petjoy Fashion Week wrapped up at the Shanghai International Fashion Center on Sunday, with diverse pet fashion collections and innovative experiences highlighting Shanghai's vibrant and fast-growing pet consumption market.
Ranging from Chinese-style embroidered sets and urban workplace attire to outdoor functional wear, matching human-pet outfits took center stage at the event. It also debuted the first exotic pet runway show, alongside an AI virtual fitting service and pet agility competition.
According to the 2026 Shanghai pet consumption distribution index released in Oct, Shanghai's dog and cat consumption market reached 253 to 288 billion yuan ($38 billion) in 2025, growing 10 to 15 percent annually. Monthly per-pet spending averages 500 to 1,000 yuan, ranking first nationwide. A total of 187 pet economy events have been held across the city since October 2025, with the biannual Petjoy Fashion Week emerging as a new growth driver for regional consumption.
