At a smart farm in Liucheng township of Heyuan, Guangdong province, vast rice fields are awash with golden waves, with driverless harvesters and other vehicles working busily to harvest and transport crops.

The modern harvesting scene, which keeps mechanical harvesting loss rates below 1.8 percent, was on display during a farmers' harvest festival at the Wanlyu Smart Unmanned Farm on Friday.

The farm's planting, plowing, harvesting, and management are fully automated, achieving an operational efficiency that is over 50 times greater than traditional manual methods. It has become a regional benchmark for grain production. With an area of approximately 353 hectares, it produces over 4,500 tons of rice and more than 500 tons of rice seeds annually.

Behind the farm's smart process are agricultural drones jointly developed by a local company and South China Agricultural University. The farm's operational experience has been promoted in more than 20 townships across the city.
