The transfer reflects efforts to make archaeological findings more accessible to local communities, strengthen regional collections of cultural relics and provide tangible historical evidence for the study and interpretation of local heritage. It is also expected to enrich public cultural services and reinforce Yanqing's cultural identity.
An official emblem for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei archaeological exchange was unveiled at the event. Featuring red and white as its primary colors, the design incorporates elements of regional geography, Chinese characters and cultural landmarks to symbolize cooperation among the three regions in archaeological research and heritage preservation.
The closing ceremony of the 2026 Beijing Public Archaeology Season was held alongside the academic exchange.
Launched in April under the theme "Experience Archaeology, Understand Beijing", the annual initiative featured five major programs: archaeological study tours, hands-on archaeological activities, public lectures, exhibitions, and educational programs in schools. The activities were designed to give the public opportunities to engage directly with archaeology and gain a deeper understanding of Beijing's history through immersive experiences.
